Mulligan Concept™ Mobilization With Movement™ Introductory Course

The Introductory Mulligan Concept™ course provides a comprehensive and in-depth introduction to the manual therapy assessment and treatment of the Upper and Lower Quadrants. This two day course includes all inclusive lectures, patient demonstrations, and substantial lab time to allow participants to gain a complete intellectual understanding of the Mulligan Concept™ approach and the practical skill necessary to apply it in practice the following week.
This unique approach to active, pain free manual therapy was created by Brian Mulligan, and is has been nurtured and further developed and researched by the Mulligan Concept Teacher Association. It is one of the simplest yet most effective approaches to manual therapy for musculoskeletal disorders. Within 2 minutes, the clinician can learn to establish the value of pain-free manual therapy forces that can restore pain-free functional movement with each individual patient. This course will teach the clinical reasoning and practical application of the Mulligan Concept throughout the entire body. It is not a core curriculum course - it is not required to sit for the Certification Examination the Mulligan Concept™ but allows the clinician to be exposed to techniques from throughout the entire body all in one weekend. Clinicians will be able to take these skills and immediately apply them in their practice including follow up home programs and taping strategies to maximize patient recovery.
Introductory Course Objectives
After completing the Mulligan Concept™ Mobilization With Movement™ Introductory Course the participant will be able to effectively:

Demonstrate 2 shoulder MWM techniques for shoulder elevation impairment.

Demonstrate 2 elbow MWM techniques for loss of motion and tennis elbow.

List 2 indications for ankle and knee taping procedures to reinforce an MWM technique.

Demonstrate 3 key variables that may need to be modified for pain-free effective MWM of the upper extremity and cervical spine.

Demonstrate 2 manual techniques used for the alleviation of cervical spine pain or dysfunction

Demonstrate 2 manual techniques used for the alleviation of lumbar spine pain or dysfunction

Demonstrate 2 manual techniques used for the alleviation of hip joint pain or dysfunction

Demonstrate central and unilateral manual SNAG techniques for the pain-free improvement of lumbar ROM.

Cite at least 2 RCT studies that support cervical snags for ROM, headaches and dizziness

Mulligan Concept™ Mobilization With Movement™ Upper Quadrant Course

The Mulligan Concept™ Mobilization With Movement™ Upper Quadrant course provides a comprehensive and in-depth approach to the manual therapy assessment and treatment of the cervical and thoracic spines in addition to the upper extremity. This two day course includes all inclusive lectures, patient demonstrations, and substantial lab time to allow participants to gain a complete intellectual understanding of the Mulligan Concept™ approach and the practical skill necessary to apply it in practice the following week.
This unique approach to active, pain free manual therapy was created by Brian Mulligan, and has been nurtured and further developed and researched by the Mulligan Concept Teacher Association. The Lower Quadrant Mulligan Concept™ course provides a comprehensive and in-depth approach to the manual therapy assessment and treatment of the Lumbopelvic region and lower extremity. This two day course includes all inclusive lectures, patient demonstrations, and substantial lab time to allow participants to gain a complete intellectual understanding of the Mulligan Concept™ approach and the practical skill necessary to apply it in practice the following week. This course is an excellent starting point in your Mobilization With Movement™ education.

The Advanced Mulligan Concept™ course offers an in-depth continuation of Mobilization With Movement™ education, designed for clinicians who have completed both the Upper and Lower Quadrant courses. This two-day course refines manual therapy skills and introduces advanced techniques to further enhance clinical outcomes.
Created by Brian Mulligan and developed by the Mulligan Concept Teacher Association, the Mulligan Concept™ is a unique, evidence-informed approach to active, pain-free manual therapy. Within minutes, clinicians can assess and apply gentle forces that restore functional movement without provoking pain—making it one of the simplest and most effective techniques for treating musculoskeletal disorders.
This course expands on foundational concepts with the introduction of Pain Release Phenomenon (PRP) methods and advanced compression techniques. Participants will benefit from a structured learning experience that includes comprehensive lectures, live patient demonstrations, and extensive lab sessions. This format ensures that clinicians leave confident in applying these techniques immediately in practice.
Completion of this course is required for those seeking Certified Mulligan Practitioner (CMP) designation and represents the final step in preparing for the CMP Examination.

Eligibility and Prerequisites
To be eligible for the CMP Exam, clinicians must complete the following three courses through The Clinician Edge or an MCTA-accredited provider:

Advanced Course
(Note: The Advanced Course can only be taken after completing both the Upper and Lower Quadrant courses. However, the Upper and Lower Quadrant courses may be taken in any order.)
While there is no formal clinical experience requirement, regular application of Mobilization With Movement™ techniques and familiarity with Brian Mulligan’s textbook will significantly improve your preparation and chances of success.
Exam Format
The CMP Examination consists of two components:

Manual Skills Assessment – demonstrating practical application of MWM techniques

Didactic Knowledge Test – assessing your understanding of the Mulligan Concept™ principles
Candidates must achieve a minimum score of 80% on each section to pass. Those who successfully complete both components will earn the title of Certified Mulligan Practitioner (CMP) and will be acknowledged accordingly.

The CMP credential does not confer teaching rights. Only instructors trained and approved by the MCTA may teach official Mulligan Concept™ courses.
